Coral in Bloom Textured Porcelain Vessel Medium
- Description
This collection is inspired by the organic forms of coral. At dusk, soft polyps emerge from their stony home to feed in the dappled moonlight.
I like to display these pieces near a window as the cotton tufts appear to glow in the morning sunlight.
The cotton tufts are removable so vessel can also be used as a vase.
I create each ceramic art piece through a slow process of hand sculpting, slip casting and a variety of textural finishing techniques. My working process is largely intuitive as I experiment with and learn from the beautifully smooth porcelain clay. Additions of hand dyed natural fibres highlight a contrast between the hard clay and soft textile details, making each piece completely unique.
Like the ripples in each ocean tide, no two pieces are the same.
