Each night out in our blue ocean, tiny polyps emerge form their stony homes to feed in the dappled moonlight. My sculpture “Coral Whispers” is a celebration of the intricate beauty that thrives in nature and is a tribute to the grandeur that emerges from the meticulous craftsmanship of life's smallest creatures.
This sculpture can find a place in your home as a stand alone piece or as a grouping with others in this collection.
I create each ceramic art piece through a slow process of hand sculpting, slip casting and a variety of textural finishing techniques. My working process is largely intuitive as I experiment with and learn from the beautifully smooth porcelain clay. Additions of hand painted fibres highlight a contrast between the hard clay and soft textile details, making each piece completely unique.
Like the ripples in each ocean tide, no two pieces are the same.
