In my work, “Sculpted Spines” I aim to capture the essence of sea urchins, and seek to evoke a sense of wonder about the world beneath the waves.

This piece explores the dichotomy inherent in nature, where delicate beauty often coexists with formidable defenses. The sea urchin's protective exterior, adorned with its characteristic spines, mirrors the resilience found within vulnerability.

I create each ceramic art piece through a slow process of hand sculpting, slip casting and a variety of textural finishing techniques. My working process is largely intuitive as I experiment with and learn from the beautifully smooth porcelain clay.
